The Streaming Takeover

What to do: Read this short extract from the unit article. Then answer the questions and tap Check Answers. (Read the full article using the link above!)

In 2025, for the first time ever, streaming was watched more than broadcast and cable combined. By December that year, streaming made up 47.5% of all TV viewing — the highest share ever recorded.

The streaming world was once ruled by Netflix, but in 2025 YouTube overtook Netflix in average daily viewing time. Whole seasons are now released at once, so millions of people binge-watch a story in a single weekend.

1. By December 2025, what share of all TV viewing was streaming?
2. Which platform overtook Netflix in daily viewing time?

Liam: Same. A sequel is being made, apparently.

Zoe: Really? Where did you hear that?

Writing

Write a Review

What to do: Write a short review (about 80–100 words) of a film or series. Use passive structures. There is no automatic score — use the checklist.
Example: "Last weekend I binge-watched a new crime series. It was filmed in Iceland and the haunting soundtrack was written by a well-known composer. The plot is set in a small fishing town where a mystery slowly unfolds. The whole season was released at once, so it's easy to binge. A second season is already being made. It's well worth watching — I'd give it four out of five."
