C1 Business & Work Vocabulary: Strategy, Finance and Leadership
This C1 Business and Work Vocabulary module covers 50 words for how an organization is actually run — strategy, forecast, allocate, diversify and compliance for the planning; asset, audit, revenue, incentive and investment for the money; leadership, supervision, delegate and workforce for the people. Eight words come back from the B2 work module. Every word comes with flashcards, a word-formation drill, a collocations match and a twelve-question quiz, free and self-scoring.

What’s inside this module
Five stages: revisit what you know, meet the new words, build other forms from them, pair them with the words they normally go with, then test yourself.
Words you already know
A warm-up deck of eight words you first met at B2 — acquisition, appraisal, budget, contract, productivity, recruit, revenue, stakeholder. Each card shows what you knew before, what changes at this level, and an example using the C1 sense.
Flashcards
Fifty cards, each with the word, its part of speech, a precise C1 definition, an example sentence, and up to three typical collocations on the back — allocate resources, a core competence, measure performance. Rate each card “I knew it” or “Still learning” and your ratings are saved automatically.
Word formation
Eight gap sentences that ask for a different form of a word you have just met: allocate becomes allocation, compliance becomes comply, innovation becomes innovative, strategy becomes strategically, invest becomes investment.
Collocations & phrases
Ten pairs from real corporate language: willing to compromise, meet a deadline, secure finance, revise a forecast, offer an incentive, handle the logistics, form a partnership, conduct an audit, top of the agenda.
12-question quiz
A mix of multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank, with an explanation after every answer, right or wrong. Your best score is saved automatically.
How to get the most from it
Five habits that make C1 vocabulary stick, not just pass a quiz.
These words live in documents
Compliance, logistics, capacity, allocate and diversify come from reports, strategy papers and annual results. That is where you will meet them and where you should practice them — a spoken sentence very often wants a simpler word instead.
The finance words are one system
Revenue is money coming in, profit is what survives the costs, an asset is what the company owns, and an audit checks all three. Four words that only make sense against each other, and mixing them up in a meeting is immediately obvious.
Same root, three different forms
Strategy, strategic and strategically; innovate, innovation and innovative; efficiency and efficiently. C1 writing frequently needs the adverb where a B2 answer would reach for the noun, which is why the word-formation section pushes hard on this.
Come back for the re-deal
After you finish the flashcard deck, it automatically rebuilds itself from just the words marked “still learning.” A short second pass on the hard ones is worth more than repeating the whole deck.
Use one this week
Take a real decision made where you work or study and describe it in three sentences using this deck — allocate, forecast, incentive, stakeholder. One real decision teaches these words better than any invented case study.
