B2 Science & Innovation Vocabulary: Research, Data and New Technology
This B2 Science & Innovation Vocabulary module covers 50 words for how research is done and what comes out of it — experiment, sample, observation, findings and conclusion for the method; artificial intelligence, algorithm, automation, robotics and biotechnology for the results. Every word comes with flashcards, a word-formation drill, a collocations match and a twelve-question quiz, free and self-scoring.

What’s inside this module
Four stages: meet the words, build other forms from them, pair them with the words they normally go with, then test yourself.
Flashcards
Fifty cards, each with the word, its part of speech, a B2 definition, an example sentence, and up to three typical collocations on the back — a medical breakthrough, an accurate reading, develop a technique. Rate each card “I knew it” or “Still learning” and your ratings are saved automatically.
Word formation
Eight gap sentences that ask for a different form of a word you have just met: discovery becomes discover, invention becomes inventor, accurate becomes accuracy, reliable becomes reliability, automation becomes automate.
Collocations & phrases
Ten pairs taken from how research is actually described: conduct an experiment, a medical breakthrough, file a patent, raw data, build a working prototype, launch a satellite, draw a conclusion.
12-question quiz
A mix of multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank, with an explanation after every answer, right or wrong. Your best score is saved automatically.
How to get the most from it
Five habits that make B2 vocabulary stick, not just pass a quiz.
The method words matter more than the science
Experiment, sample, observation, measurement, findings and conclusion describe how any claim gets tested, in any field. You can use all six without knowing a word of physics, and they are what an essay about research actually runs on.
Accurate, reliable and significant are three things
Accurate means close to the true value. Reliable means the same result every time. Significant means large enough to matter. They are not synonyms, and telling them apart is one of the most useful things in this deck.
Every noun here has its verb
You conduct an experiment, make a discovery, draw a conclusion and file a patent. Pick the wrong verb and it is more noticeable in this topic than in almost any other, because the phrases are so standard.
Come back for the re-deal
After you finish the flashcard deck, it automatically rebuilds itself from just the words marked “still learning.” A short second pass on the hard ones is worth more than repeating the whole deck.
Use one this week
Explain one piece of technology you use, in three sentences, with words from this deck — algorithm, automation, data, prototype. Explaining something real is the fastest way to find out which words you only half know.
