Objective: Students will write a short essay describing an environmental issue and propose solutions to address it.

Instructions:

  1. Choose an environmental issue.
    • It could be pollution, deforestation, climate change, plastic waste, etc.
  2. Describe the issue.
    • What is it? How does it affect the environment and people?
  3. Explain why it is important to solve this issue.
    • What are the potential consequences if it is not addressed?
  4. Propose solutions to the issue.
    • What actions can individuals, communities, or governments take to solve it?
  5. Write a short essay (8-10 sentences).
    • Use clear and coherent sentences.
    • Organize your essay with an introduction, body, and conclusion.
    • Check your grammar and spelling.

Example:

One of the major environmental issues today is plastic pollution. Plastic waste is found everywhere, from oceans and rivers to forests and cities. It harms wildlife, clogs waterways, and contributes to land pollution. Solving this issue is important because plastic does not decompose easily and can remain in the environment for hundreds of years. To address plastic pollution, individuals can reduce their use of plastic by choosing reusable bags, bottles, and containers. Communities can organize clean-up events to collect plastic waste from local areas. Governments can implement policies to ban single-use plastics and promote recycling programs. By taking these actions, we can reduce plastic pollution and protect our environment for future generations.
