Bread
Definition: A food made of flour, water, and yeast or another leavening agent, mixed together and baked.
Example: “I like to have toast with butter for breakfast.”
Rice
Definition: A cereal grain that is a staple food for a large part of the world’s population.
Example: “We had rice with our chicken curry for dinner.”
Pasta
Definition: A dish originally from Italy consisting of dough made from durum wheat and water, extruded or stamped into various shapes and typically cooked in boiling water.
Example: “Spaghetti is my favorite type of pasta.”
Fruit
Definition: The sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food.
Example: “I like to eat fresh fruit for a snack.”
Vegetables
Definition: A plant or part of a plant used as food, such as a cabbage, potato, turnip, or bean.
Example: “It’s important to eat vegetables with every meal.”
Meat
Definition: The flesh of an animal (especially a mammal) as food.
Example: “We had grilled meat and vegetables for dinner.”
Fish
Definition: A limbless cold-blooded vertebrate animal with gills and fins living wholly in water.
Example: “We had fish and chips for lunch.”
Chicken
Definition: The flesh of the chicken used as food.
Example: “We had roasted chicken for Sunday dinner.”
Egg
Definition: An oval or round object laid by a female bird, reptile, fish, or invertebrate, usually containing a developing embryo.
Example: “I like to eat scrambled eggs for breakfast.”
Cheese
Definition: A food made from the pressed curds of milk.
Example: “We had cheese and crackers as a snack.”
Milk
Definition: A white liquid produced by the mammary glands of mammals.
Example: “I like to drink a glass of milk with my cookies.”
Soup
Definition: A liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc., in stock or water.
Example: “Chicken soup is great when you have a cold.”
Salad
Definition: A cold dish of various mixtures of raw or cooked vegetables, usually seasoned with oil, vinegar, or other dressing.
Example: “We had a green salad with our dinner.”
Pizza
Definition: A dish of Italian origin consisting of a flat round base of dough baked with a topping of tomato sauce and cheese, typically with added meat or vegetables.
Example: “We ordered a pepperoni pizza for dinner.”
Sandwich
Definition: An item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with a filling between them, eaten as a light meal.
Example: “I had a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.”
Burger
Definition: A sandwich consisting of one or more cooked patties of ground meat, usually beef, placed inside a sliced bread roll or bun.
Example: “We had burgers and fries at the diner.”
Ice Cream
Definition: A soft frozen food made with sweetened and flavored milk fat.
Example: “We had ice cream for dessert.”
Juice
Definition: The liquid that can be squeezed out of fresh fruit or vegetables.
Example: “I had a glass of orange juice with my breakfast.”
Tea
Definition: A hot drink made by infusing the dried crushed leaves of the tea plant in boiling water.
Example: “I like to drink tea in the afternoon.”
Coffee
Definition: A drink made from the roasted and ground bean-like seeds of a tropical shrub.
Example: “She drinks a cup of coffee every morning.”
Breakfast
Definition: The first meal of the day, eaten in the morning.
Example: “I usually have cereal and milk for breakfast.”
Lunch
Definition: A meal eaten in the middle of the day.
Example: “We had a light lunch of salad and soup.”
Dinner
Definition: The main meal of the day, eaten in the evening or at midday.
Example: “We had dinner at a nice restaurant.”
Snack
Definition: A small amount of food eaten between meals.
Example: “I had an apple as a snack in the afternoon.”
Restaurant
Definition: A place where meals are prepared and served to customers.
Example: “We went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner.”
