Plane

Definition: A vehicle designed for air travel, with wings and one or more engines.

Example: “I flew on a plane to Paris last summer.”

 

Train

Definition: A series of connected vehicles traveling on railways.

Example: “We took a train from London to Edinburgh.”

 

Bus

Definition: A large motor vehicle carrying passengers by road.

Example: “The bus to the city center leaves every 15 minutes.”

 

Car

Definition: A road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine.

Example: “We rented a car to drive around the island.”

 

Bicycle

Definition: A vehicle composed of two wheels held in a frame, one behind the other.

Example: “Riding a bicycle is a great way to explore the town.”

 

Boat

Definition: A small vessel for traveling over water.

Example: “We took a boat tour to see the nearby islands.”

 

Motorcycle

Definition: A two-wheeled vehicle that is powered by a motor and has no pedals.

Example: “He rides his motorcycle to work every day.”

 

Subway

Definition: An underground electric railway.

Example: “The subway is the fastest way to get around the city.”

 

Taxi

Definition: A car licensed to transport passengers in return for payment.

Example: “We took a taxi from the airport to our hotel.”

 

Airport

Definition: A complex of runways and buildings for the takeoff, landing, and maintenance of aircraft.

Example: “We arrived at the airport two hours before our flight.”

 

Station

Definition: A place where trains or buses regularly stop so passengers can get on and off.

Example: “We waited for our train at the main station.”

 

Ticket

Definition: A piece of paper or electronic document giving the holder a certain right, especially to enter a place, travel by public transport, etc.

Example: “I bought a ticket for the concert online.”

 

Luggage

Definition: Suitcases or other bags in which to pack personal belongings for traveling.

Example: “Make sure you don’t forget your luggage at the airport.”

 

Passport

Definition: An official document issued by a government, certifying the holder’s identity and citizenship and entitling them to travel under its protection to and from foreign countries.

Example: “You need a passport to travel internationally.”

 

Hotel

Definition: An establishment providing accommodations, meals, and other services for travelers and tourists.

Example: “We stayed at a beautiful hotel near the beach.”

 

Hostel

Definition: An inexpensive lodging place for travelers, often with shared rooms and facilities.

Example: “The hostel was a great option for our budget trip.”

 

Tourist

Definition: A person who is traveling or visiting a place for pleasure.

Example: “The city is full of tourists during the summer.”

 

Beach

Definition: A pebbly or sandy shore, especially by the ocean between high- and low-water marks.

Example: “We spent the whole day relaxing on the beach.”

 

Mountains

Definition: Large natural elevations of the earth’s surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level.

Example: “They went hiking in the mountains last weekend.”

 

Museum

Definition: A building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited.

Example: “We visited the art museum in the afternoon.”

 

City

Definition: A large town.

Example: “New York City is known for its skyscrapers and bustling streets.”

 

Village

Definition: A group of houses and associated buildings, larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town.

Example: “They live in a small village in the countryside.”

 

Island

Definition: A piece of land surrounded by water.

Example: “We took a ferry to the nearby island.”

 

Cruise

Definition: A voyage on a ship or boat taken for pleasure or as a holiday and usually calling in at several places.

Example: “They went on a Mediterranean cruise for their honeymoon.”

 

Sightseeing

Definition: The activity of visiting places of interest in a particular location.

Example: “We spent the day sightseeing and taking photos of the landmarks.”
