Objective:

Practice using advanced vocabulary and phrases to craft more detailed self-introductions and conversations.

Instructions:

Practice using these phrases to talk about yourself. 

Vocabulary Review

Study and use these phrases:

 

Expanded Greetings and Introductions

    • It’s great to meet you! / Pleased to meet you.
    • I’d like to introduce myself.
    • I’m originally from… (e.g., “I’m originally from London, but I live in Brno.”)
    • I work as a… / I’m currently studying…
    • In my free time, I’m passionate about…

Describing Hobbies and Interests

    • I’m really into… (e.g., “I’m really into photography and hiking.”)
    • One of my favorite activities is…
    • I spend a lot of time… (e.g., “I spend a lot of time reading and writing.”)

Follow-Up Questions

    • What inspired you to…?
    • How did you get into…?
    • What do you enjoy most about…?

Writing Practice

Write a detailed self-introduction (5-7 sentences). Include:

  • Your name and where you’re from.
  • Your job or studies.
  • Two hobbies or interests.
  • A goal or dream for the future.

Example:
Hi, I’m Emma, and I’m originally from Prague, but I’ve lived in Brno for five years. I work as a graphic designer, and I love creating digital art in my free time. I’m also passionate about traveling and have visited eight countries so far. One of my dreams is to explore South America and learn Spanish.

 

Conversation Practice

Create a dialogue using at least 8 vocabulary phrases from Part 1. Your conversation should be at least 8 lines long and include:

  • A greeting and self-introduction.
  • Questions about hobbies, work, or studies.
  • Responses with details about personal interests.

Example:
A: It’s great to meet you! My name’s Daniel.
B: Hi, Daniel! I’m Sofia. Pleased to meet you.
A: Where are you from, Sofia?
B: I’m originally from Madrid, but I’ve been living in Ostrava for three years. How about you?
A: I’m from Liberec. So, what do you do?
B: I work as a teacher, but in my free time, I’m really into painting. One of my favorite activities is sketching landscapes.
A: That’s amazing! How did you get into painting?
