Balanced Diet

Definition: A diet that includes a variety of different types of food and provides adequate amounts of the nutrients necessary for good health.

Example: Eating a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins helps you stay healthy.

 

Nutrients

Definition: Substances that provide the nourishment essential for growth and the maintenance of life.

Example: Vitamins and minerals are important nutrients that our bodies need to function properly.

 

Hydrated

Definition: Having absorbed enough water or moisture.

Example: It’s important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

 

Junk Food

Definition: Food that is high in calories but low in nutritional value, often containing a lot of sugar, salt, and fat.

Example: Chips and candy are considered junk food and should be eaten in moderation.

 

Exercise

Definition: Activity requiring physical effort, carried out to sustain or improve health and fitness.

Example: Regular exercise, such as running or swimming, helps keep your body strong and healthy.

 

Cardio

Definition: Short for cardiovascular exercise; activities that increase the heart rate and improve the efficiency of the cardiovascular system.

Example: Running and cycling are excellent forms of cardio that improve heart health.

 

Strength Training

Definition: A type of physical exercise specializing in the use of resistance to induce muscular contraction, which builds the strength, anaerobic endurance, and size of skeletal muscles.

Example: Lifting weights is a common strength training exercise that builds muscle.

 

Flexibility Exercises

Definition: Exercises that enhance the ability of a joint or series of joints to move through an unrestricted, pain-free range of motion.

Example: Yoga and stretching are great flexibility exercises that improve your range of motion.

 

Routine

Definition: A sequence of actions regularly followed.

Example: Having a bedtime routine, like reading a book before sleep, can help improve sleep quality.

 

Screen Time

Definition: The amount of time spent using devices such as computers, televisions, or mobile phones.

Gratitude

Definition: The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Example: Practicing gratitude by writing down things you are thankful for can help you stay positive.

 

Relaxing

Definition: Making or becoming less tense or anxious.

Example: Listening to quiet music before bed is a good way to create a relaxing bedtime routine.
